Organic products are the foundation of the nation's health

It is no secret that what we eat shapes our health and the health of our children. Nutritious food, clean air, and water have always enabled people to live long and disease-free lives.
In cities with polluted air, constant stress, and a fast-paced lifestyle, it is much more difficult to provide simple and natural nutrition for children. Organic products are becoming a conscious choice for an increasing number of families. By including foods grown without the use of pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, and growth stimulants in our diet, we not only naturally gain the inherent strength and benefits of the products, reduce the amount of allergens and harmful additives in our meals, but also help preserve biodiversity and the resources of our planet for future generations.
This is because organic farming, unlike intensive agronomy, does not harm the soil, does not pollute the environment or produced products, and does not deplete soil and water resources.
In Russia, there are plans to gradually include organic products in the menus of schools and kindergartens. After all, the older our children get, the more time they spend outside the home, and the harder it is to provide them with the nutrition they are accustomed to at home.
Since 2021, in the Ivanovo region, the staple of any Russian family's diet – potatoes – has been grown organically. The brand “There is Space on Earth” supplies two varieties of potatoes, beans, millet, peas, wheat, and unique organic honey to retail chains and marketplaces. All production is concentrated in the Ilyinsky District. The farm’s sown areas consist of lands brought into use that have not undergone mechanical cultivation for more than 20 years. Over the past five years, more than 550 hectares of fallow land have been brought into circulation.
“Honey is precisely the result of natural symbiosis and inherent diversity. When cultivating potatoes, we do not use synthetic fertilizers. Instead, we sow the fields with green manure crops—plants such as mustard, phacelia, rye, and others—that enhance the soil: enriching it with nutrients (nitrogen, humus), improving its structure, suppressing weeds, and protecting against erosion and pests. These plants attract bees, providing them with a comfortable environment to live and collect nectar and pollen from these fields. We do not use biostimulants, feed the bees with syrups or sugar, or ‘treat’ them with pesticides. As a result, we obtain completely natural organic honey. This year, due to the rainy weather in summer, we harvested less than half a ton of honey. However, our goal is not the quantity, but the quality of the product,” said the brand’s founder, Klara Prokhorycheva.
In 2024, the country registered 253 organic product manufacturers, and the registry continues to expand. Food production is of fundamental importance for any country and its population. Government support for organic farming is a contribution not only to the current development of the agricultural sector but also to the future health of the nation and the preservation of the country's natural resources.
